6. TRUFFLES, TRUFFLES AND MORE
TRUFFLES AT BLACK BEAR RESTAURANT
The most expensive and incredible (and famous) food item in the
entire world is without a doubt, TRUFFLES. They are the hallmark of
truly great master dishes and world-class restaurants, and though
popular in New York and Europe, they are extremely rare to find at
any restaurant in Colorado. There are two kinds: the black from
Southern France, and the white from Northern Italy. They run between
$900 and $2000 a pound, yet by the time we receive them in America
they have a shelf life of a week or less...this is why we almost
never see fresh truffles here in Colorado. Perhaps the Black Bear
Restaurant's most legendary chef's table experience is called the
"Black and White" Dinner. One night each January we attempt to get
BOTH black AND white truffles. This is impossibly expensive and as
far as we know, no one else in or anywhere near Colorado has ever
attempted to have BOTH black and white truffles in the house at the
same time. To celebrate this experience we request that everyone
wear black and white, finalizing the elegant theme (tuxedos are not
required). This event is on Wednesday, January 18th at the Black
Bear Restaurant. Call 719-684-9648 for more information or
reservations.
Black Bear Restaurant is located at 10375 Ute Pass Ave, Green Mt.
Falls CO
