El Zocalo? El Zocalo is the name of the central plaza in Mexico City. Nestled in the heart of the capital since the mid 16th century, El Zocalo is filled almost daily with official celebrations, political rallies and people socializing. Surrounding El Zocalo you will find the Cathedral, city government offices, restaurants and shops. There are city parks and squares in other countries, but none that play as intimate and important part as they do in Mexico.
Chandler has its own El Zocalo, due in part to founder, Dr. Alexander J. Chandler. Chandler's new El Zocalo includes the elegant landmark San Marcos Hotel, A.J. Chandler Park and the historic Monroe Building which houses
El Zocalo Mexican Grille.
Built in 1912, the Monroe building was Chandler's first commercial building. Through out the years it has served many purposes. Today, the de la Cruz family invites you to relax and enjoy history at El Zocalo Mexican Grille. Let the ambience and flavors transport you to Mexico City.
